Business 2 Community columnist Ryan Shelley writes that there are three main reasons why content marketing strategies might not be working. The first is poor headline writing. The best headlines grab attention, are timely, and sell ideas in as few words as possible. The second reason is lack of targeted promotion. Shelley recommends looking for sites in your niche that accept syndication, asking such questions as "Will they syndicate our blog?" and "Will they take our content, pull it from a feed, and show it on their site?" The third and final reason why content doesn’t work is lack of a strategy. "Spray and pray doesn't work," Shelley concludes. "You have to have a plan, [and] you need to follow through on that plan."
